REZZDAY CELEBRATION

One of the nice sides to having a Second Life is the fact that you have two birthdays. Your real life birthday, and your rezday, (the day you created your avatar in the virtual world). There was a big celebration in SL on Saturday night as style guru Kirk Claymore marked the event of his second rezday with a fantastic costume party.

Kirk, who owns KMADD Enterprises, with partner Maddox Dupont, had arranged for the party to be held in a magical sim with an Alice in Wonderland theme. Kirk and Maddox are famous in SL for their wonderful events and for doing things in style.

Kirk looked very handsome dressed as a King for the evening, complete with crown and scarlet robes. All the guests looked stunning as well as they danced the night away in their colourful and amazing outfits. Maddox's costume complimented Kirk's with an intriguing fantasy purple style, along with playing cards emblazoned on his chest.

The sim itself was pretty fantastic, with huge stacks of giant playing cards and chess pieces on the black and white chequered dance floor. A giant maze, and beautiful gardens all round, set the scene. As I wandered around exploring I actually fell down a rabbit hole, a brightly lit tunnel, which seemed endless until I finally tumbled into a water-filled cavern at the bottom. There was a box floating there with a biscuit inside which invited you to eat it, on touching the biscuit you would be teleported away to another area, all clever stuff!! It would be an exciting place to explore if you have a little free time, as there is so much to see.

Second Life has been getting a little bit of a bad press over the last few days, with tales of illicit romantic liaisons hitting the broadsheets. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20081113/tuk-woman-divorces-over-virtual-lover-45dbed5.html It's a shame that people who have never entered Second Life have no idea of the friends and worldwide community who are happy to create such an enjoyable environment to meet up and enjoy the nicer side of virtual living.

Happy Rezday Kirk and may you have many more!

KMADD City A year Later by Jenny Olbracht for Modarazzi

October 7th, 2008 Jenny Olbracht  Posted in Second Life Limelight, second life fashion |

There was a time, nearly one year ago when I stumbled upon Kirk and Maddox because of a press release sent to me for the inauguration of KMADD City. Kirk and Maddox while being great friends and good people still managed to build the empire we all have come to know as Second Life’s men’s fashion capital.

Having been in Second Life over two years, I have watched men’s and women’s fashion evolve from awful prim hooker boots and stiff hair to beautiful sculpted shoes, flexible hair, as well as skins and clothing that are nearly realistic.

Where others failed to unite designers, they seceded. Where others failed to create truly unique and detailed runways they seceded. Where others failed to create hype Kirk and Maddox saved the day. I have seen more than one blog comment (most likely anonymously left by Ammon) referring to Kirk and Maddox as old news. Sometimes if an entity is so creative, so unique and so trendy, they become a time honored standard.

So without further semantics, without further dribble, from an old fashion hag, congratulations Kirk, Bravo Maddox. Here is to another wonderful year.

With the greatest of respect,

Love, Jenny Olbracht

Unrivaled Stylists Launch New Web Site by Janey Bracken for iReport

Due to my involvement with the fabulous London sims, as SL Editor/ Reporter for Virtually London (Lite) ( http://www.virtuallylondonlite.co.uk/), I am happy to say I have access to quite a lot of upmarket, classy events that are now taking place in Second Life. There is a definite difference with the high street shop styles and the Haute Couture style quality fashions becoming available in the virtual world. Designers have evolved during the few years since SL came into existence, and you can spot an avatar a mile off who pays attention to detail, to shop in the right places, getting that groomed and chic appearance that leave the rest of us looking like we bought our clothes and accessories from the local supermarket.
That's why I had great pleasure in accepting an invitation to the launch of a new web site from Kirk Claymore and Maddox DuPont of KMADD Enterprise (incorporating KMADD City, MADesigns, MAD Studio, MAD Modeling Agency, KMADD Advertising Inc and KMADD Art Centre). Over the last two years Kirk and Maddox have totally changed fashion for SL men, bringing quality fashion and style to the neglected male market in the virtual world.

The theme of the evening was the glamorous world of OO7 James Bond and I teleported into a splendid opulent casino style setting enriched with gold interiors and grand staircases. The event was opened by Risa Bright, MADD Agency Manager and lead model, who gave a special thanks to various people who contributed to the launch party, including Studio Red, the events company ran by Xochi Tolsen who provided two sims for the opening.

Risa went on to introduce Kirk and Maddox who took it in turn to explain the services of each part of their fabulous enterprise. Kirk told the audience that MAD Studio has re-opened its doors, this time gathering some of the best Second Life photographers under one roof. He added "MAD Studio is glamour and fashion photography studio catering to fashion designers, models and Second Life publications. Visitors of KMADD City would have an opportunity to be treated to amazing talents of: Turtulutu Chaffe, Aldero Akami, Boe Cortes and Maddox DuPont.

Kirk then told us that "MAD Agency is one of the most important aspects of KMADD Enterprise as it promotes designers, provides employment and gives us all an excuse to interact by taking time from what we were doing to enjoy the show and our community" he went on to say MAD Agency would not be what it is today without it's people." "MAD Agency will have a live blog for our event posts, designer interviews, with tips and tricks from fashion professionals to inspire and motivate models across all of Second Life."

Maddox said "MAD Image is Male and Female fashion blog that will be focusing on promoting what is great in Second Life's fashion*.* MAD Image will also provide both male and female customers with a complete make-over service that consists of custom shape design and style assistance.

Maddox continued "It is a time to launch the mother of them all - KMADDCity.com. One site for everything KMADD. Wealth of information about all aspects of our business is at your disposal with only few clicks." Maddox added "It is site that we hope would be helpful resource to our customers, future clients and people that are looking for inspiration to start the enterprise of their own."

KMADD Enterprise is big business in Second Life and not only in the quantity of the services they supply, but also in the sought after 'upmarket' quality of their products that rival any real life trend setters. Kirk and Maddox are not only business partners, they also recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary in SL, and have worked very hard to have achieved such an empire in the virtual world. Visit their new website http://www.kmaddcity.com and take some inspiration from two people who have taken SL by storm.

KMADDCity.com Launch: How Glamour is done by Rawly Rousselot

On Saturday, September 20, the KMADD crew had a gala affair to celebrate the launch of their website, KMADDCity.com. It was a black-tie event with a special build, live entertainment, a glamorous theme, and a guest list that was a who's who in the world of SLociety. As a nosey builder, the first thing I had to do was check out the build, and count the prims on the land.

Photobucket

It wasn't anything to look at from the outside. When I looked at the land information, I saw that the open-space sim was owned by Studio Red, and there were about 2200 prims on it. Maddox was the primary, if not only, builder, so I was shocked that there were still 1500 prims available. There were actually two sims, and the build was on both of them. Instead of the main room straddling the sim line, there was a dancefloor on each sim, connected by a corridor. The main sim did crash once during the evening during the 3 hours that I was there.

The landing point was in this entry hall. It took a while to rez, and I was glad I wasn't going to have to walk anywhere, as moving around at these capacity events can be a real work-out. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. According to the mini-map, we were going to have to navigate the hall to get to the actual casino. I have not seen the movie, "Casino Royale", which, according to the invitation, was the theme for this event, but the interior design delivered the sleek and chic, high-end, world-class luxury associated with the 007 franchise.

Photobucket

Now THIS is what luxury is all about: scale and proportion, color and texture, light and shadow. The only true luxury is the luxury of space, and in that regard, this place had it in every direction.

Photobucket

The nature of KMADD's business dictates that they have relationships with many of the top names in design, so a KMADD party usually means SLebrity sightings in abundance. This usually means that, to the "regular" crowd, it's just the "regular" crowd. It's always nice to be reminded that we need to be seeing who is there, and taking some pictures.

Photobucket

Kirk and Maddox were suprisingly conservative. I think I finally got photographic evidence of who clicks on the blue ball. A live singer started off the evening. I can't recall his name as I write this, but if you squint at the pic, you can probably see it's Bronson someone-or-other. I love jazz, I love live music, I loved his voice, he plays a great piano, but this was not what I would have called a great performance. I think he spent more time talking and tickling the ivories than actually singing and playing. He also didn't play my request, an old standard, "Thanks For The Memories", which I dedicated to Kirk and Maddox, so tough shit--suffer the wrath of Rawly. Kromus took over afterwards, and we--I was in a group conference call with a few other people--breathed a sigh of relief.

Photobucket

There were so many beautifully dressed glamor pusses that this could easily be an article in the fashion section. I haven't seen Tango in a while, and have only met him once or twice, but I've never seen him without a lot of blonde hair. Blazin seemed to be having mouth issues, although it was probably just me. This is the third major event that I have been to in the past week, and there has been one person with a face stuck like this at each one.

Photobucket

Last week, at the Miss Costa Rica Sims pageant, Sunshine Zhangsun, pictured here in the purple on the far left, had the "permanently surprised" look. On this particular evening she seemed to be OK in the face department, but appeared to be having a wardrobe malfunction. That's Luca Mielziner in the sunglasses, and paparazzi socialite Angie Mornington in the red.

Photobucket

Possibly scandalous? Maybe, maybe not. There's Minnu Palen dancing with Valena Glushenko. Thora Charron was in the beige dress, which was rather odd for a 007/Casino themed event, but hey, what do I know?

Photobucket

Minnu was rawking an auburn razor cut crowning an 80's inspired ensemble that was a little "Joan Jett" and a little "Alexis Carrington." Nice way to do something other than the big hair and prom dress look--which I love, don't get me wrong, I am a Southerner, we love that stuff, but I love edgy, too.

Photobucket

Miss Tolsen, a.k.a. "Mrs. Korobase", rawked a custom-made red mermaid gown, but I didn't get to ask her who designed it. She was one of my favorites. Oh right, I forgot, this is not a fashion article.

Photobucket

OK so maybe just a little more fashion. Risa Bright got my vote for hawtest babe. LOVED this look--big blonde hair and a slinky catsuit. Woof! Or maybe that should be "RAWR!" At any rate, she proved that you don't need a zillion prims to be gorgeous.

Photobucket

Remember when you were a kid, and your mom would tell you to quit making a face because one day it would freeze like that? Well, apparently Blazin's mama didn't pass that particular memo on to the young Blazinetta. Her face never did get back to normal.

This was an incredibly spectacular party, surpassing the red-carpet gala affair we all got treated to last year when they had the grand opening of KMADD City. There were a lot of people that I did not get pictures of, and I even ended up going stag--thankfully Luca was there to keep me company for a while. Now that KMADD is online, with a Flickr link, we can all just google them when we want to see what really great pictures can look like, because let's face it, the pictures taken at these maximum capacity parties are not really all that great when you're trying to keep up with what is going on and fight the lag to get the shots. Click over to http://www.kmaddcity.com/ to check out the site, and make sure you show the love on their guestbook tab.
